Terms & conditions

1) Organizer

This campaign is organized by BDO Dutch Caribbean (“BDO”, “we”, “our”, “us”).

2) Campaign overview
  • We’re donating 20 gifts of Cg 1,000 each to local good causes across Curaçao, Bonaire, and Sint Maarten (20 total across all three islands combined).
  • Campaign period: From launch until November 30, 2025 at 23:59 (AST).
  • Live vote counts and a top-20 leaderboard will be shown during November. Final results are confirmed after eligibility checks.
3) Who can be nominated (Cause eligibility)

To qualify, a cause must:

  • Be a registered non-profit, foundation, association, or a recognized community initiative based in Curaçao, Bonaire, or Sint Maarten.
  • Work in one or both focus areas:
    • Education & Professional Development (e.g., training, mentorship, scholarships, skills-building)
    • Youth & Wellbeing — Fit for Life. Fit for BDO (e.g., sports, mental health, resilience, healthy lifestyle programs)
  • Demonstrate clear community benefit and transparent use of funds.

Not eligible: Individuals, for-profit activities, political parties/campaigns, or activities that are discriminatory or unlawful.

4) Who can nominate and vote
  • Age: You must be 12+ to nominate and to vote.
  • Where: Open to community members and BDO team members residing in or affiliated with Curaçao, Bonaire, or Sint Maarten.
  • Limits: One person may nominate one (1) good cause and cast one (1) vote.
  • Multiple people may nominate or vote for the same cause.
5) How to nominate
  • Complete the online nomination form in full and confirm the cause meets the eligibility criteria.
  • Nominations may be reviewed for completeness and eligibility before appearing on the voting page.
  • BDO may request supporting documents (e.g., registration proof).
6) Voting rules & fairness
  • Voters register once with name and email (and any other fields we reasonably require) to validate unique votes.
  • Automated/bulk voting, bots, duplicate accounts, or any attempt to manipulate results is prohibited.
  • BDO may audit, pause, or remove suspicious votes and disqualify nominations involved in irregularities.
  • The live leaderboard is for transparency; final results are subject to eligibility verification and audit.
7) Selection, ties, and donations

Selection of winners

  • The final 20 recipients will be determined based on the number of valid votes received by November 30, 2025. The 20 causes with the highest number of votes overall will receive a donation of Cg 1,000 each.
  • To ensure balanced representation across the Dutch Caribbean, at least two (2) organizations per island — Curaçao, Bonaire and Sint Maarten — will be included among the final top 20 causes with the most votes.
8) Use of funds & simple reporting
  • Funds must be used solely for the stated charitable purpose in Curaçao, Bonaire, or Sint Maarten.
  • Winners must provide a short confirmation of intended use before payment 
  • If a winner cannot accept funds or fails verification, BDO may award the donation to the next eligible cause.
9) Verification & due diligence
  • BDO may verify legal status, leadership, banking details, and intended use of funds.
  • Failure to provide requested information may result in disqualification.
10) Payment
  • Donations are Cg 1,000 each, paid to the winning cause’s official account.
  • Payment timing: typically within 60 days after verification and receipt of required information..
11) Contacting winners
  • Winners are contacted using the contact details provided on the nomination form (phone and/or email).
  • If a winner cannot be reached within a reasonable time (max 1 week after campaign is closed), BDO may reallocate the donation.
12) Publicity & communications
  • By participating, nominators and winning causes agree that BDO may publicly reference the cause name, logo, and a short description for campaign communications (website, press, social media).
  • Where needed, we’ll request logo files and a short description.
13) Privacy
  • We collect only the information needed to administer nominations and validate unique votes, and to communicate with winners.
  • Data is processed according to applicable privacy laws. We do not share nor sell personal data.
  • Basic, aggregated voting statistics may be published for transparency.
  • For questions about data, contact us (see Section 17).
14) Conflicts of interest
  • BDO employees may nominate and vote, but BDO will not fund causes that result in direct personal financial benefit to a BDO employee or immediate family member.
  • Any potential conflict must be disclosed; BDO may decline such nominations.
15) Anti-discrimination & integrity
  • Nominated causes must not engage in activities that are discriminatory, violent, or unlawful, and must uphold community standards of inclusion, respect, and integrity.
16) Changes, suspension, or cancellation
  • If technical issues, fraud, or events beyond our control compromise the campaign, BDO may modify, suspend, or cancelthe campaign or extend deadlines.
  • Where feasible, we will post an update on the campaign website and its social media platforms

18) Liability
  • By participating, you agree that BDO is not liable for technical failures, unauthorized interference, or other issues outside our reasonable control.
  • Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it cannot be excluded by law.
19) Social media acknowledgment requirement winner

Winning organizations agree to support the visibility and purpose of the BDO 20-Year Donation Campaign by posting the official “winning moment” picture, which will be shared with them by BDO Dutch Caribbean, on their social media platforms (if available). Winners are requested to tag BDO Dutch Caribbean in their post so that BDO may reshare the content. This acknowledgment forms part of the conditions of receiving the donation.

20) Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Curaçao, and any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Curaçao.
