The Diabetes Foundation of St. Maarten was chartered on Thirteenth January in the year 1998. The main purpose of this foundation is to increase more awareness and information about Diabetes for the people of St. Maarten. Our purpose is to support in the Diabetes care and prevention here in St. Maarten. We going every two weeks into the community of St. Maarten and carry out testing of the people basic test are checking out the Glucose levels, Hypertension, Cholesterol and Body Mass Index (BMI), we also organize forums with doctors and medical stall and bring in specialists to come to speak about the Diabetes and their consequence . Our Tests are free of charge for the public. We all working for free, we having about 15 volunteers and we try to carry out testing during week-ends visiting the community centers, supermarkets, hardware stores and special events.
