On the island of Bonaire, one special ambulance makes dreams come true: not just any ride, but a journey of the heart. Since starting at the end of 2024, Fundashon Ambulans Deseo Boneiru has already fulfilled 13 heartfelt wishes for people who are immobile or in the final phase of life.
A grandmother attending her grandson’s wedding. A dip in the turquoise waters of Sorobon. An ice cream with family on the boulevard. Watching the sun set one more time from Seru Largu.
Each wish is a reminder that moments of joy and connection matter most. With every journey, the foundation (powered entirely by volunteers) helps people live fully, even when they can no longer move freely.
The specially designed ambulance, decorated with art featuring flamingos, turtles, and the island’s warm Bonairean spirit, brings each wish to life. Every trip is completely funded by the foundation, with a dedicated nurse and driver accompanying each guest to make their experience safe, comfortable, and unforgettable.
